Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955 in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany on an American military base. When he was two, his family returned to the US to live in Penns Grove, New Jersey.

Willis caught the acting bug while performing in a college production of Cat On a Hot Tin Roof at Montclair State College. This led to work in commercials ands in 1984, a role in the off-Broadway play Fool For Love.

His big break came later that year when he was chosen out of 3000 auditioners for the coveted role of David Addison in the hit series Moonlighting. The series starred film star Cybill Shepherd and ran on ABC until 1989. During the series run, Willis appeared in 2 feature films: Blind Date (1987) opposite Kim Basinger and Sunset (1989) with James Garner.

In 1989, Willis moved to Hollywood's A-list when he starred in the action thriller Die Hard as a tough NY cop who rescues his wife from an office building taken over by terrorists. This led to two successful sequels Die Hard II in 1990 and Die Hard With a Vengeance in 1995.

During the 1990's, Willis also appeared in The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990), The Last Boy Scout (1991), Death Becomes Her (1992) and Nobody's Fool (1994). The 1990's also saw Willis starring in several box office earning winners including Pulp Fiction (1994), 12 Monkeys (1995), The Fifth Element (1997) and the blockbuster Armageddon (1998).

In 1999, Willis teamed with director M. Night Shyamalan for the psychological thriller The Sixth Sense. Willis plays a therapist who tries to help an 11 year old boy who “sees dead people”. The film was one of the highest grossing films of the year and was nominated for 6 Oscars including Best Picture.

Recently, Willis can be seen in The Whole Nine Yards (2000), Unbreakable (2000), Bandits (2001) and Hart's War (2002). Willis also has recorded several CD's of blues music, has produced and written screenplays for TV and film and was involved in the Planet Hollywood food chain business venture. Willis also has 3 daughters form his eleven-year marriage to actress Demi Moore.
