Original Airdate: September 25, 2005
Starting her illustrious career at age two, Jodie Foster continued to work in commercials until her television debut in the series Mayberry R.F.D. four years later. It was not until 1975 that her breakthrough role in the celebrated classic Taxi Driver as a teenage prostitute “Iris,” opposite Robert DeNiro, did her career skyrocket as she would receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Foster graduated best in her class from the College Lycee Francais and began to study English Literature at Yale University, from where she graduated magna cum laude. Trying to get back into acting and making a final effort, she played the role of Sarah Tobias in The Accused, which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. She would earn her second Academy Award for her compelling portrayal of Special Agent Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs.
Despite never having formal training, this talented actress continues to assemble an impressive body of work.
