Naomi Watts Naomi Watts recounts the filming of one of her most challenging scenes.

Season 10, Episode 1005

Original Airdate: December 28, 2003

When Naomi Watts joins James Lipton on stage, she tells him how she bargained her way into acting lessons at age fourteen. In exchange for her willingness to move from Wales to Australia, Watts made her mother agree to pay for classes.

Although she had a passion for acting, Watts talks about her uncertainty that she would be able to make a career of it. After a brief stint as both a model and an assistant fashion editor, she took an intensive acting workshop that led to a part in the film “Flirting.” There she worked alongside Nicole Kidman, who became a life-long friend and confidante.

After moving to the United States to pursue her craft, Watts took parts in several films including “Tank Girl,” which she auditioned for nine times, “Children of the Corn IV,” and “Ellie Parker.” Her big break came when she landed a lead role in David Lynch's “Mulholland Dr.” She discusses her participation in this film in great depth, and shares with the audience the anguish that she felt while filming the difficult love scene her character takes part in.

Watts also talks about more recent films “The Ring” and “21 Grams,” and confirms that she will return to the silver screen as Rachel Keller in “The Ring 2.”
